congress update

"Solana has downplayed the weight of national sovereignty in a globalized world, which should join forces, and called for "intervention into the sovereignty of the countries that do not respect international agreements" on issues like climate change or the proliferation of nuclear weapons" Link

"The man who has been in the mix of high international diplomacy in the last two decades has confirmed the truth of the secret documents published by Wikileaks U.S. The former secretary general of NATO and former High Representative of the European Union, Javier Solana, has said what was published "is nothing that I do not know. That's all I knew, but now its black and white and in public."...However, he regretted the publication. " "I'd rather wished it had not happened." At a conference in Girona in the Third Meeting of the Spanish Confederation of Directors and Executives (CEDE), he warned that it will produce two effects: a change in traditional diplomacy, it will be more difficult to work with the messengers, and the custody of documents, because "this has not been hackerism, but someone has made copies and published them."Link

Javier Solana received the "Knight of Freedom" award in Warsaw today

"Former head of EU foreign policy Javier Solana on Saturday received in Warsaw the "Knight of Freedom" award, awarded by the Kazimierza Pulaski foundation for promoting freedom, justice and democracy.

The award ceremony was organized by the European Academy of Diplomacy and the Pulaski Foundation.

Receiving the award Solana stressed the "very special relationship" linking him with Poland. He expressed satisfaction that, as EU foreign policy chief had the privilege of "being at the right time and right place, when the doors of the European Union and NATO have opened up for the Polish" (1, May 2004 and 12 March 1999). According to him, Poland is a very important member of both organizations.

Solana has said that the EU is "one of the most beautiful creations," which emerged after World War II. He stressed that today no country can solve its problems in isolation from other countries.

- Contemporary Issues are global, so the solutions must be global - he said. In his view, the countries of Europe can meet these challenges through cooperation within the EU."

(farmer from the panel discussion livestream: Solana also praised the international organisations like UN and that there is a "phantastic level of cooperation you cannot imagine...including during the financial crisis". He urged the young listeners (students): "You belong to a country that is very important. Please believe it and behave in this sense, with the responsibility that comes along with it. You have an important role to play" and that "in the world of today, at timea of globalisation, it is fantasy to think, that a single country, even the biggest country of the EU, would count without the common building. This was the building that was build a long time ago. You did not experience the tragedies. You enjoy its benefits today. My message is: Love it. Feel it. It is yours. It is the best thing that could happen to all of us. Outside it is very cold. Inside it is very warm. Let's keep it together. You and your country are so close to my heart."

OF COURSE JAVIER SOLANA TALKS ABOUT HIS COUNCIL OF FOREIGN RELATIONS/BROOKINGS EUPHEMISTIC PRINCIPLE OF "RESPONSIBLE SOUVREIGNITY" here: that countries will just "functioning" in giving their power to international organisations. Read about it more here: Link) What term is here more fitting than flattery? (Wikipedia: "Flattery (also called adulation or blandishment) is the act of giving excessive compliments, generally for the purpose of ingratiating oneself with the subject.")

"Knight of Freedom Prizes are awarded since 2006, "for outstanding figures who have contributed to promoting the values underlying Gen. Kazimierza Pulaski, i.e. freedom, justice and democracy. "

Winners are awarded with hand made replicas of Karabakh (saber),of officers from the eighteenth century. The winners of the prizes were so far: former Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, historian Norman Davies, the leader of the democratic opposition in Belarus Alaksandar Milinkevich, former presidents Lech Walesa and Aleksander Kwasniewski, and President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus.

Solana was awarded the prize in 2009 together with Kwasniewski and Adamkus, but he could not answer it then". LINK
